Ernest “Ernie” Blawas, 47, of Virginia Beach, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2001 in Unadilla, Ga. A native of Pennsylvania, he was serving in the Virginia Air National Guard, 203rd Red Horse Flight. He was a mechanic for Material Handling in Chesapeake and an avid outdoorsman. Ernie was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be deeply missed. He is survived by his two daughters, Janean Breuss of Virginia Beach, and Christina Bussell of San Diego, Calif.; his grandson, Austin Bussell of San Diego; his sisters, Joann Geiger of North Huntington, Pa., Theresa Short of Latrobe, Pa., Virginia Jansen of Virginia Beach, Marlene Busato of Jeannette, Pa., and Monica Smith of South Haven, Miss.; his brothers, Robert Blawas of Berea, Ohio, Tom Blawas of Blairsville, Pa., and Charles Blawas of Jeannette, Pa.; and several nieces, nephews and countless friends. A funeral service will be held at Noon Saturday, March 17, 2001 at Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel, followed by interment in Rosewood Memorial Park, with full military honors. The family will receive friends Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ernest Blawas Memorial Fund, c/o Christina Bussell, 160 Newtown Rd., Virginia Beach, Va. 23462.
