Army Spc. Nathaniel A. Caldwell was assigned to the 404th Air Support Battalion, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas where he was a tank mechanic. Caldwell died in Baghdad when the Humvee he was in rolled over him and he was thrown out. He was still alive when they got to him but it took an hour to get Caldwell to a hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving. Nate wanted to become a pastor and looked forward to starting a counseling center when he got out of the Army. Caldwell grew up in Arizona and studied sports management at Peru State College in Peru, Nebr. He was 6-foot-4, 225 pounds and was named Peru State's most inspirational player during the 1997-98 season.
