Philip Workman

On October 19th 2009, suddenly and unexpectedly, we lost our beloved husband, son and brother. Philip was born on January 16th 1973, in Ajo, Arizona and moved to Phoenix with his family in 1988. He was a graduate of Central High School and attended both Phoenix College and Arizona State University. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge #2 in Phoenix, both York Rite and Scottish Rite. He also served as the Past Master of the Lodge as well as Past Master of both the York and Scottish Rites. Philip also held the rank of Sergeant in the United States Army National Guard and proudly served in Afghanistan with his unit the 1st BN 158th Infantry as a Team Leader in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from January 2007 to April 2008. His military accomplishments include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal (with 1 oak leaf cluster), Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal (with "M" Device), Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal and the Combat Infantryman Badge. On November 5th 2000, Philip married his love and best friend, Cindy Workman whom he has cherished and will forever. An accomplished classical guitarist and marathon runner, Philip touched the lives of everyone he met and was known for his kind and gentle spirit. He loved to travel, reaching out to those in need of help and spending time with his family. Philip is survived by his beloved wife Cindy, his parents A.J. Workman and Enoe (Michael) Marcum Sr., his sister Erin Workman and brother SGT Michael C. Marcum, his grandmother Conchita Sotelo as well as his aunts, uncles, many cousins and extended family members. Philip will be greatly missed by all and he will always be in our thoughts and forever in our hearts. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM on Monday, October 26 at Regency Mortuary, 9850 W. Thunderbird, Sun City. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 AM on Tuesday, October 27 at the Phoenix Masonic Temple, 345 W. Monroe St, Phoenix, followed by interment with full military honors at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona at 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd. Phoenix.
