Army Pfc. William L. Meredith, 26, of Virginia Beach, Va.; was assigned to the 569th Engineer Company, 4th Engineer Battalion, Fort Carson, Colo. He died Sept. 21 in Kandahar, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with an improvised explosive device. Pfc Meredith, known best by, Lee, attended Ocean Lakes High School. He joined the United States Army in 2008 and was currently serving his second deployment. His first deployment was served in Iraq. His awards included the Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Combat Action Badge and Iraq Campaign Medal. Lee died at age 26 when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with an improvised explosive device.
