Pfc. Kelly D. Youngblood of Mesa, Arizona attended McClintock High School in Tempe and Rhodes Junior High and Alma Elementary School in Mesa. He also worked as a sandwich maker at a local restaurant before joining the Army. After a life long dream of being a soldier he enlisted in the Army as soon as he turned 18. Kelly had been in the Army for 1yr. 1mo. and 1 day, deployed to Ramadi for 16 days when he was killed. He was awarded The Bronze Star, The Purple Heart and The Army Good Conduct Medal. He loved being a soldier, enjoying the discipline and camaraderie among his fellow soldiers. His wonderful sense of humor made him a favorite at Fort Stewart, GA. At the age of 9 he and his family moved to Mesa, AZ. Before enlisting in the military, Youngblood enjoyed skateboarding, riding his bike and playing video games with friends. He was 19.
