Pfc. John C. Johnson, 28, of Phoenix, Ariz., died May 27 in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with small arms fire. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Rose Johnson; daughters: McKena Elizabeth Johnson, Marina Rose Humble, and unborn child Rae LeAnn Johnson; mother, Vicki LeAnn Dryer and husband Guy; father, John Merrill Johnson Jr. and wife Anita; sisters, Candis Mishelle Cook and Jami Lee Leach; half-sisters: Misty, Sidney, Hailey, Nikkole, and Taylor. John is also survived by both Maternal Grandparents and Paternal Grandmother, as well as a very large extended family.
