Pfc. Corey L. Hicks 22, of Glendale, Ariz.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Hood, Texas; died May 2 in Baghdad of wounds sustained when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device.
Corey Lee Hicks, PFC, of Glendale, AZ currently stationed at Fort Hood. He passed on May 2, 2008 in Baghdad, Iraq. Corey was born on January 17, 1986 in Billings, Montana. He graduated in 2004 from Cortez High School and was currently serving proudly in the United States Army and received the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaigning Medal with Bronze Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Combat Action Badge and a Weapons Qualification Badge with an Expert bar. Corey is survived by his parents Tim and Dawn Settle and Russel Hicks, Siblings Kerri (Josh) Oless, Tim Settle, Russel Jr. and Tina Settle, 3 nieces and 1 nephew Isabel, Christian, Savannah and Hayden. Grandparents James Sr. and Nancy Settle, Mary Hicks and Betty. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him. Corey was a gift to all and will be honored forever for his service to his country and the fight for freedom.
