Marine Lance Cpl. Nicholas C. Kirven, 21, of Richmond, Va.; assigned to 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii; killed May 8 by enemy action while conducting combat operations in Alishang, Afghanistan. Beloved son of Elizabeth and Michael Belle and Rusty and Robin Kirven; brother of Pride Kirven, Joseph Belle and Joe Purcell; grandson of Wayne and Bebe Alexander, Dr. Leo E. Kirven Jr. and Grace M. Belle. He is also survived by a host of relatives and friends. Nicholas is a true American hero. Friends may call at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home on Sunday, May 15, 2005 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 11900 Lawyers Road, Reston, Va. on Monday, May 16, 2005 at 10 a.m. Interment with full military honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at 1 p.m. Contributions may be made to the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, 825 College Blvd., Suite 192, PMB 609, Oceanside, Calif. 92057.
