Chief warrant Officer Travis Wayne Grogan of Virginia Beach, VA died in Bamian, Afghanistan when his aircraft crashed while on a supply mission. He was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division (Light), Schofield Barracks, Hawaii.

An only child, Travis grew up in Moore, OK, just outside of Oklahoma City, was a graduate of Moore High School and attended the First Baptist Church of Moore. His love of swimming led to a position in the Navy as a search-and-rescue swimmer. Later, he became interested in flying and transferred to the Army to become a pilot. He leaves behind a wife, Tracy, and two children, ages 6, and 2, and his grandmother, Wilma North. He was the son of Barbara and Lewis Grogan. Travis comes from a long line of military men. His great-great-great grandfather lost an eye during the Civil War. He was 31.
